If you haven't already done so, rush out and buy a copy of Classic Cars for September 2017. Brilliant piece on Hugh Bradnum's Speed 25 written by Nigel Boothman, son of Martin. What an intriguing history this car has. Love the story of the car being used to export stolen cash to Switzerland in the 50s
Many of you will have been following the controversial report of the Centre for Economics and Business Research aimed at tackling the problems of our traffic-choked roads. Will our cars really be segregated on to separate roads by 2040? Will they be limited on mileage? What will be the impact on values? Some suggest that, in an era of autonomous cars, values could rocket. Will there be any fuel sellers left? Will we have to wait for special Alvis days to drive our cars: National Alvis Day?! It's all a potentially frightening prospect which it is easy all too to dismiss with a "well it doesn't matter cos I won't be here".
Just returned from an excellent trip to the brilliantly-organised Scottish Section Weekend at Scone Palace near Perth. Wonderful hotel at Dunkeld on the banks of the Tay. Well done to John Ratcliffe, Sandy Smith, Peter Martin and their team. This really is a hidden gem of the club with really welcoming hosts.
