SOUTH EAST: Christmas Dinner at The Gomshall Mill in Gomshall, Surrey, GU5 9LB. By popular demand we are returning for a fine Christmas Dinner at the Mill in Gomshall. An historic location with a working water mill and easy parking, this venue offers a superb atmosphere but more importantly very good food and most certainly good company.

MIDLAND: Christmas Lunch This year, contrary to the tradition of a post Christmas lunch, we have decided to organize a pre Christmas lunch in the hope that more people will be able to join us for the occasion. It will be held on Tuesday, December 19th, at the Howard Arms, 7 miles South of Stratford on Avon, in the Cotswolds (CV36 4LT). Cars should arrive from 11:30 onwards. The meal will be served around 12:30.

MIDLAND: New Year Lunch at Marsh Farm Uttoxeter Road, nr Abbots Bromley, WS15 3EJ. The dining room will be for our exclusive use, and parking within the private grounds. Everyone welcome, no need to arrive in an Alvis, just come along and bring your friends. Freshly cooked farmhouse food.

SOUTH WEST: AOC members are invited to our Winter Lunch at The Carpenters Arms, Stanton Wick, Somerset BS39 4BX. We are returning by popular request to this attractive country pub, located in a most picturesque setting overlooking the Chew Valley. We have been allocated a private option in The Log Room where we can enjoy a nice Sunday roast or various other options including vegetarian. As this is a most popular pub there may be a limit to numbers, so please commit ASAP. We suggest arrival after 12, serving at 1pm.

WALES: Lunch. The Welsh Section welcomes all AOC members to a gathering, to meet at 12 noon onwards for a return visit for lunch at the Best Western Royal George Hotel, Tintern, Nr. Chepstow, Monmouthshire, NP16 6SF. This hotel is besides the A466, 5 miles to the north of Chepstow, across the road from the River Wye. We have provisionally reserved spaces for Alvis friends, it is situated quite close to Tintern Abbey. The Tintern Abbey is an historic site with a modern and fascinating Visitor Centre.

Wensleydale Creamery, Gayle Lane, Hawes, North Yorkshire DL8 3RN – A wonderful journey through the Yorkshire Dales culminating in a guided tour of the Wensleydale Creamery, followed by lunch at the Creamery café. In the afternoon, Richard has also arranged a guided tour of Gayle Mill followed by afternoon tea.

MIDLAND, SOUTH WEST AND WALES: A O C Members 3rd TRI – SECTION LUNCH 3rd combined 3 Section Informal Lunch Gathering at The Woodlands Tavern, Llanvair Discoed, near Chepstow, NP16 6LX – to meet at 12 noon onwards. This Tavern is based in the heart of the Best Kept Village of Gwent current and past, Llanvair Discoed. It is very close to the historical excavated Roman fortress town of Caerwent, and set at the foot of Gray Hill, Wentwood forest and reservoir. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty. The hosts are Chef Keith, wife Sue and their friendly team. They offer locally sourced food. This is a wonderful and relaxed opportunity to make new Alvis friends or to meet up with existing ones. Everybody is welcome, with or without an Alvis. Confirmation of attendance will be appreciated as numbers are quite likely to be limited.

NORTHERN: Parish Picnic for Petrol heads, St John the Baptist church, Vicarage Lane, Knaresborough. Yorkshire. HG5 9AE - A wonderful afternoon, overlooking the River at Knaresborough with a plentiful bounty of vintage and classic cars. It’s a great base for investigating this historic market town and what it has on offer. Arrive from 12 noon onwards. Bring your own picnic, visit the excellent church café overlooking the River Nidd serving hot sandwiches, homemade cakes or walk up the hill to the Mitre pub or Station café.

SOUTH WEST: We are planning to hold our 2018 SW Weekend in Dorset and our SWAD will be on Sunday the 10th June and be held at Athelhampton House near Dorchester. This magnificent House and its estate and gardens have been in private ownership for over five hundred years and should provide a perfect backdrop for our Alvis cars. - Full details later.

NORTHERN: Newby Hall Vintage and Classic car Show. Newby Hall, Ripon, North Yorkshire, HG4 5AE. Once again, the Northern Section of the Alvis Owner Club are invited, by The North of England Classic and Pre War Automobile Club, to Yorkshire’s largest one day Vintage and Classic Car Rally.

MIDLAND: Pre War Prescott (Hillclimb) near Cheltenham is open to all spectators for £25 per car. To drive up the hill complete an entry form on http://prewarprescott.com/ (which has more info and photos). Passengers ride up free! Post war cars are allowed to climb provided they have "flowing wings"- so TA14's and 3 litre TA'- TC's are allowed into "Alvis Avenue" and on up! Fear not! It’s informal untimed friendly fun in first rate facilities raising funds for the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.

As a joint venture with the Welsh Section of the A.O.C. we have been invited to the 9th Classics at the Castle. Taking place at Bodelwyddan Castle near Rhyl. Set in 260 acres of magnificent parkland with the show taking place in front of the castle itself. Concours competition with prizes and throughout the day catering options within the show area.

NORTHERN: Hebden Bridge Vintage and Classic Car Show, Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, HX7 8EE. Organised by The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge, the Vintage Weekend is an annual rally for vintage, veteran and classic vehicles held in the Historic West Yorkshire Town of Hebden Bridge, in the heart of the South Pennines.

NORTHERN: MG Northern Day, Bewerley Park, Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire. HG3 5HQ - The largest MG show in the North and once again they have extended a warm welcome to the Northern Section of the Alvis Owners Club. Pateley Bridge is a small market town, well worth a visit, and the town centre is adjacent to the Show Ground. For several years they have given us a very prominent display area within the show arena although, if there are enough Alvises, we can have a Club stand. There are stalls and catering on site.

NORTHERN: Passion for Power, Tatton Park Vintage and Classic Car show. Tatton Park, Knutsford, WA16 6QN. One of the UK’s most popular Classic Car events with over 90 Classic and performance car Clubs attending and over 300 private entries. Large Autojumble and over 250 trade stands. A full weekend event, hosted by our previous Northern Secretary Alan and his wife Diane. This is a very popular event for all our South Lancashire and Cheshire Members. This Large show goes from strength to strength every year, having an enormous and diverse amount of vintage and classic cars on display. At this show we have our own club area to display our cars.

NORTHERN: Vintage by the sea - The Midland Hotel, Marine Rd, Morecambe, Lancashire LA4 4BU. A celebration of all things Vintage: cars, live music, fashion etc. As voted the best vintage event in the world by the Guardian Newspaper. The fantastic setting of Morecambe’s seafront provides the backdrop that transforms into a multi-venue playground where, visitors can learn the dances, take in specially curated live performances, ogle over vintage vehicles or take advantage of the decade’s specific hair and beauty makeovers. SCOTTISH: A 7-day tour of Ireland has been planned for us by the Irish Tourism Group. In outline it is Cairnryan ferry to Belfast, Dublin, Dungarvan, Killarney – 2 nights, Galway – 2 nights, Dublin, Belfast – ferry. Roughly 150 miles per day, total 1100 miles.

NORTHERN: North Yorkshire England at War Weekend Every October, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway recaptures the spirit of the Second World War for a whole weekend. It is an annual tribute to the men and women who kept Britain's railways running throughout the war. The weekend begins with the ceremonial flag raising on Friday, and continues until it is lowered again on Sunday afternoon. Hundreds of skilled re-enactors help create the authentic atmosphere that has earned it an international reputation for authenticity. Accommodation will be available at Gisborough Hall (further details to follow) and the cars will be parked at Grosmont Station, the RAF base.
